Jon R. Schumacher
Jon R. Schumacher grew up in Edina, Minnesota before heading off to Ft. Collins, Colorado to obtain his B.S. degree at Colorado State University in 1990. Jon returned to the Midwest for law school and received his J.D. with distinction at the University of North Dakota in 1994. Following graduation from law school, Jon moved to Denver to take the bar examination and practice law.
After passing the bar examination Jon worked for a small personal injury firm before starting his own practice in Denver with two other lawyers in 1997. After several years in a busy trial practice, Jon moved to the Gunnison Valley in 2003 to attempt to integrate fishing into his daily life. He is still working toward this goal.
Jon's practice focuses on civil litigation, personal injury, real estate/HOA representation, and criminal defense. He has actively litigated cases and done numerous jury trials in the Denver metro area and in the Gunnison Valley. Jon is a member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, the Colorado Bar Association, and the 7th Judicial District Bar Association.
Jon has been actively involved in nonprofit work since moving to the Gunnison Valley in 2003. He is a proud supporter of the mentoring organization, Partners, and the Arts. Jon was formerly President of the Board of Directors of Gunnison Country Partners. He currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Gunnison Council for the Arts.
In addition to his nonprofit work, Jon enjoys engaging in the numerous recreational opportunities the Gunnison Valley affords.
Michael P. O'Loughlin
Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Michael P. O'Loughlin obtained a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Vermont, and went on to attend the University of Denver's Sturm College of Law where he received his law degree. Shortly thereafter, Mike was admitted to the Colorado Bar.
Mike O'Loughlin is a general practitioner with his main areas of legal practice focusing on real estate, HOA law, civil litigation, estate planning and administration, business entity representation, construction and development, water law, and municipal law. Mike is the County Attorney for Hinsdale County, Colorado (2011 – present) and previously served as the Assistant County Attorney for several years (2006 – 2011). Mike also represents the Gunnison Bank & Trust Company a/k/a the Crested Butte Bank and homeowners' associations, businesses and private individuals throughout Crested Butte, Mt. Crested Butte, Almont, Gunnison, Lake City, Buena Vista, and Boulder.
Mike also served as the Vice President of the Coal Creek Watershed Coalition from November 2006 to February 2012, a nonprofit organization dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the water quality in and around Crested Butte, Colorado. Mike is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the 7th Judicial District Bar Association, and the Colorado County Attorney's Association.Mike enjoys many outdoor activities available on Colorado's Western Slope, including skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, white water rafting, fishing, hiking and camping. He is also an avid sports fan and spends much of his free time playing ice hockey, golf and softball. Mike is a Committee Member of the Gunnison Valley Hockey Association.
Mike is a founding member of Schumacher & O'Loughlin, LLC, which opened in September 2011. Schumacher & O'Loughlin, LLC is dedicated to providing competent and effective legal services throughout Colorado's Western Slope and beyond.
